Project description:
Production of an art edition
Kaleidoscope, 2008
Olafur Eliasson
Design and construction of a reflective work of art from the artist Olafur
Eliasson. An approximately 2m large triangular mirror was arranged in
a stainless steel frame made of bespoke hollow profile under a dichromatic
glass plate, arranged in special angles. The resulting mirror is set 2.5
m into a specially manufactured base.
Light shines into the body of the object through a defined opening in
the top of the mirror body. This is infinitely reflected through the mirror
incorporated in the spatial triangle, thus producing a sub-terranean cosmos
of "stars." A total of 12 further kaleidoscopes, each with a
star formation.
